We are delighted to share with you an article that has just been published in the World Development journal on Community Health Day s in Laos!
In this article, Lauren Crawshaw, who was an IDRC awardee with us here in Laos, led a comprehensive review of the impact of these events on community awareness-raising.
Results showed that these events helped improve knowledge on human health, but that it was harder to raise awareness about animal and environmental health. Since this study, the teams in Laos have re-oriented the Community Health Days to focus on school-age children and have worked closely with teachers and local offices to develop games and interactive presentations for kids which create impact. Our next sessions are planned early next year!
